We got to work on another eagle project a couple of weeks ago. Our son, who loves to bike, was going to be fixing and donating bikes to some refugee families.
The project was a success, but not without it’s challenges. Just before we started on our way up to where the refugees live, our son started not feeling well. The project was to be done outside, and in November that is a bit risky. The 2 days prior to the project were sunny and quite nice, but as we pulled in to get started we had a little rain start falling.
Our son started feeling even worse when he got out of the car, but he pushed through. We were able to help repair every bike that was brought to us. A couple of them required us to take a trip to the bike shop for parts. We also donated an additional 8 bikes, and are hoping to take up several more soon. The kids were great, and everyone helping worked hard. We all got pretty wet, and most everyone was feeling the effects of the cool weather. I thought about bringing a heater along, but I don’t really have anything that would have suited the situation. It was a great day, and I think we did some good.
