We took the kids over to the annual touch a truck day put on by our great city. The city had many different vehicles out on display to see and touch. I think this a wonderful program. The kids love to look out the window at the firetrucks when they go by. Letting them climb around on the trucks is just the right pace for kids.
Some of the vehicles had longer lines, but they had enough options you didn’t have to wait. I love how the kids got to look in at the engines, and climb in the backhoe bucket. I’m pleasantly surprised they were allowed to climb up the outside of the dump truck. One of my favorite parts is where our daughter is treating our son in the back of an ambulance.
I think this is a great event for the city to sponsor. The cost is reasonable since these are all vehicles easily accessible to the city. The kids love getting to climb around on the trucks. Walking around with your kids looking at trucks makes it easy to visit with our neighbors and build community ties. I’m excited for the next touch a truck event.
