The Pocket Sized Traveler
Online you can find all kinds of “travelers notebooks,” notebooks that are designed to be easy to carry on your person no matter where you are going. They help keep you organized. Unfortunately, most of the ones that you find online come in specialized sizes. You have to buy the specific notebook too.
I wanted a traveler notebook that really fit in my pocket and had a pretty standard and cheap notebook to go with it. I have used a mini composition notebook for my pocket notebook for some time now, and it seemed to me a leather cover would help hold things together.
The Design
The design is very simple. All it takes for a traveler notebook is a couple of holes to wind an elastic string. The string holds the notebook without adding too much bulk.
This simple design allows for greater customization later on. I’ve added wallet-like pockets to other variants, as well as storage sleeves. These additions make the cover bulkier, but add some value to it anyway.
Why the Pocket Sized Traveler Notebook
This is a simple project that allows me to spend more time carving the design. The sleekness of the traveler, and the durability of leather is what drew me to the project in the first place. This is something that makes for a great gift, and it is easy to make and will last a long time in your pocket.
