I’ve been working on cleaning up my computer these days. While doing this I came across a folder with a bunch of pictures from one of our old Perkins family reunions. On this reunion we went to St. George. During the week we visited Zion’s National Park. That has become a bit of a tradition, and we find ourselves hiking the narrows quite regularly. I imagine we’ve shared most of these photos with the family before, but just in case I wanted to post a gallery with the images.
I don’t remember what year this was, but it’s fun to look back at all the kids when they were several years younger. It’s not always easy, in fact it’s usually very difficult to make the time to get away for a family vacation. I’m grateful our families have been willing and able to take the time and allocate the resources needed to spend time together. We’ve made some amazing memories and friendships over the years.
One of the things I love about our family is that we can have fun just about anywhere, doing almost anything. On this trip we ate lunch at the start of the hike. While we were eating we started jumping from a large rock into the river. That kept us busy for over an hour I imagine.
Further into the hike we found what has become the must do “cliff jump” of our narrows hike. That consumes the rest of our time usually, and gets us some fun go pro footage.
We probably go a little overboard on the number of pictures taken on a trip like this. If you tried to watch the included photo gallery your probably noticed. We have several amazing photographers in the family. They catch great moments with the kids. They also do a good job capturing the majesty of the national park, even though it isn’t under ideal conditions.
The best part of all of this is how well the cousins get along. They love to be together and have formed bonds that will last a lifetime and beyond. Of course we have our moments, but not too many of them, and we always get through them. We’re looking forward to reunions together for years to come.
