Ornaments

Well I have been really bad at getting on the blog for the last few days. I’m going to try and get back to my daily posting again. I don’t have any good excuse for being absent, although I did dodge a bullet tonight. Last night I thought I had destroyed the motherboard in my computer. I made a poor decision, and went trying to look in the computer while it was still running. That didn’t work out so well for me. I tried replacing the motherboard with and old one I had in the basement, and that didn’t get me anywhere either. I ended up causing the power supply to “pop”, which is never a good thing when working with electronics. I gave up for the night and figured I would have to order new parts, and wait days for them to come in. I talked through the events with my brother in law today, and he suggested that perhaps the only issue was with the power supply. I figured it couldn’t hurt to try, and I knew I would need a new one either way. I was able to find one of those locally, and pick it up on the way home from work. It took a little fiddling in the bios to get the thing booting correctly, but it would appear that everything is going to be alright. I’ve been working on backing the thing up online now for several weeks, but at my current pace it’s going to be months before it finishes. I need to come up with a better short term protection plan, so that if something goes wrong before the back up is complete I’ll have options.
