Vines

I was out trying to capture some of the trees all covered in the snow, and I took these shots of some vines. For these shots I was actually using a tripod. When I lined up this shot I decided to play around with the aperture a bit. This series of images was taken at several different settings, so I thought I would share them. The smaller the aperture setting the larger the opening in the camera.  This results in a smaller the depth of field that will be in focus. If I had thought of it at the time I would have taken a picture wide open to show one more data point. I didn’t, so the smallest aperture number (largest opening in camera) I used was F3.2. Then I proceeded to take a shot at F5, two images at F11, and finally F18.

The difference is seen when looking away from the specific focus point. Especially when considering the parts of the image further in relative distance from where the focus point was. One obvious difference is in the building way off in the background. Because it is so much further from the camera, and it was never supposed to be the focus point, it goes from blurry to more in focus as the aperture number increases. If I feel like spending the time I can try and show where the specific focus point was for each shot. I can’t remember If I changed focus points along the way or not.
